It is important that the relationship between client and therapist supports the growth and development in the client.
You as a client need time to decide if the therapist you are seeing is the right one for you and your issues.
A few things to look for:
Well recognised qualifications
Membership of appropriate associations
Professional appearance in information given to you
Ask yourself:
Am I feeling comfortable with the therapist?
Is the therapist allowing me to choose my way of dealing with my issues?
Is this giving me what I need?
Allow yourself to get to know the therapist and you will find the answers to those questions.
